Why we do what we do

Children and young people have the right to live in an environment that is free from violence and abuse and a right to access all supports available within their community.

Rosie’s Place is committed to working to support children, young people and families to address the impacts of such violence, and advocate for their ongoing safety and protection.

Through collaborative work with the community we seek to improve the supports and relationships that are fundamental to all aspects of empowerment, personal efficacy and the promotion of well-being.

Criteria for referral to Rosie’s Place

Geographic area

Rosie’s Place is based in Rooty Hill in the Blacktown Local Government Area. We can accept referrals for people within the Blacktown LGA. For a referral outside this area please contact our service to discuss the referral further.

Age

We see children and young people up to the age of 18 years. We also support mothers/families who have also been impacted by the violence.

Trauma History

Rosie’s Place will see children and young people who have been impacted by sexual assault and/or domestic and family violence.

We can also provide counselling to mothers and their children who have sought freedom from violent partners/fathers.

Rosie’s Place can also provide support and counselling to children under the age of 10 who have displayed concerning sexual behaviours along with support for their families.

Other important details

  • Anyone can make a referral to Rosie’s Place, we do not need a letter from a medical practitioner. There is no cost for attending counselling at Rosie’s Place.

  • All clients need to be aware of any referral made on their behalf. We cannot accept a referral when consent has not been given.

  • We can provide outreach for some clients to homes and schools etc, however, the geographic area for outreach is within a 10km radius of Rooty Hill.
