Two Trees

Written by: Mary-Jo McVeigh

Published by: Rosie’s Place

Publication Date: 2006

ISBN: 0-9580807-5-5

This two part publication was written by Mary-Jo McVeigh and printed by Rosie’s Place.

It is a group work package for workers supporting children who are in OOHC. The package is a product of twenty two years of listening to children who are in OOHC. Mary-Jo writes; I found myself having more and more conversations with children about the struggles they were having with the status of being in OOHC and the sense of isolation they sometimes feel. I wanted to create an environment that provided a springboard for discussion, through planned activities using different media and allowing children to be creative. And so my fingers went to work and this program was born.

A Hand to Hold

Written by: Cathy Want and Ruth Crew

Publication date: 2003

ISBN: 0-9580807-2-0

This publication is a book of writings and stories that came from mothers, children and other sexual assault workers. The idea for the book came from countless conversations with families about the enormity facing children when they attempt to access the criminal justice system in Australia to ensure the offender is held accountable for the crimes of child sexual assault. From a series of consultations with mothers and children we have collected experiences. reflections and testimonies about their endeavours to seek justice and collated them here in A Hand to Hold.

True Colours

True Colours is a group work manual for workers who are working with both mothers and children who have escaped violent partners. In responding to women subjected to domestic and family violence, group work has been held as an effective mode of practice. In bringing together women forced into secrecy and isolation surrounding domestic and family violence, group work immediately challenges those legacies.
